What to Expect during a session of EFT at Tapping Works
Introduction and Overview
Each session is confidential and personalized to focus on the specific issues you bring. Whether you're seeking relief from anxiety, stress, trauma, or other emotional challenges, I will work with you at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for your needs.
How EFT Works
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) uses gentle tapping on specific points on the face and body to help release emotional blockages and reduce stress. A diagram of these tapping points is shown below, including the side of hand, eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, under arm and top of head.
The First Session
The first session typically lasts around 90 minutes, which includes an additional 30 minutes to introduce EFT, explain the tapping points, and demonstrate how to use them. We'll also spend some time discussing what you’d like to work on, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions. My aim is to ensure you feel comfortable and informed before we start the tapping process. You can expect to experience tapping in the first session for between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on time.
Follow-up Sessions
Subsequent sessions usually last up to one hour. We’ll dive into tapping and focus on the emotional issues you want to address. Some clients may achieve their goals after just one or two sessions, while others prefer more regular sessions. The number of sessions you decide to have, and the frequency is entirely up to you, and we’ll review your progress as we go.
Online vs. In-Person Sessions
During online sessions via Zoom, we’ll connect virtually. You'll tap along with me, as I mirror the tapping points and verbally guide you through the process. You can either repeat the words I use in your head or out loud, depending on what feels more comfortable for you.
In in-person sessions, you’ll have the option to tap yourself or have me tap on you, depending on what you prefer. I’ll ensure you feel empowered and comfortable at every step.
The Healing Journey
Investing in your emotional well-being is one of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself. With my background in Clinical Psychology and the power of EFT, we’ll work together not just to manage symptoms but to create lasting change. My approach combines compassion, evidence-based practice, and a deep understanding of how to ease emotional distress while building resilience.
Furthermore, where helpful, you don’t have to explain everything for EFT to work — we can tap with what you’re feeling, without needing to go into all the details and the full story. It’s a gentle, respectful way to support your nervous system and one of many advantages to using EFT.
Next Steps
If you’re ready to take the next step, I invite you to schedule a session or book a free 15-minute consultation to discuss any questions you may have.
I look forward to working with you on your journey to emotional freedom.
